Background

I built this after a particularly stressful time, attempting to save someone else's project while completing my own. I worked maybe 20 hours a day for a number of weeks. I needed to work on both projects at a distance from time to time and did not have the resources available out of the office.

Challenges and Opportunities

I wanted this application to prevail across the entire company. This was a great opportunity to get ahead of the competition, and help our clients help us to provide a better level of service.

Options

Sure there were application already available on the market, but there is nothing like building one yourself. Anyway this was as much a project for myself as it was for the company.

The Solution

A Server side application written in VBScript using MS Access as the data source.

Benefits

I've used this application a number of times with different project managers, the benefits are obvious. Ceneralised resource for documents, project plans, assignment of tasks and workflow process for service requests.

I got sick of a service request system that relied on paper, faxes and email. So I started to build a virtual office application using ASP and Microsoft Access.
