Cosmo
magazine was refurbishing their website, with the pinochle of renovation
being the home page. The home page was to be an interactive situational
based navigation system.
Challenges and Opportunities
With such a complex layout it was difficult to compress the download size in display the page within the 15seconds specified.
Options
There were two options:
- DHTML navigation system with image maps and menu popup's; or
- Flash based menu system.
Solution
In order to compress the image sizes enough to produce the download times required Flash was the best option. Even there, a large amount of work was performed to optomise download size.
