phunQube

Role: User Experience Architect
Location: London

PhunQube is a small company, which works with large companies to make products and services (e.g. websites, digital devices, and handheld gameplayers) easier for people to use.

Achievements

  • Development and presentation of site maps, wire frames, and specification of new sites and services for companies such as Sony, Lonely Planet and Channel 4;
  • Creation of rich prototypes that provided a platform for a new level of realism during user testing;
  • Conducted user tests and finalised associated documentation, some of which lead to the acquisition of new clients.

Zest Health Clubs

January 2005 to August 2005
Role: Information Manager
Location: Brisbane

With a staff base of over 100 knowledge works across Australia, an information management strategy for Zest Health Clubs was vital to provide a platform of growth.

Achievements

  • 2005/2006 National information management strategy;
  • Document templates, metadata standards and registration system;
  • Implementation of document search systems;
  • Implementation of a new logical network design for improved security, also resulting in reduced time to retrieve local, state and national documents;
  • Development of a corporate taxonomy and dictionary;
  • Development of a corporate project management framework, including communication and education platforms;
  • Specification and implementation of key business intelligence systems;
  • Information management educational program for existing staff and an induction program for new staff;
  • Successful upgrade of the accounting system and chart of accounts;
  • Implementation of an employment lifecycle management system; and
  • Improvements to the management of paper based documents, including bar-coding, outsourcing of storage and retrieval and internal processes.

Brisbane City Council

January 2004 to December 2004
Role: User Experience Designer/Technical Lead
Location: Brisbane

On the 7th of June 2004 the Brisbane City Council released it's most recent website revision. In addition to a new design and information architecture, this project involved the successful implementation of a content management system.

Achievements

  • 2004 Webby Award nomination, the first Australian website to be nominated;
  • Implementation of a third part Content Management System (CMS), inline with Council Strategy, successfully delivered on time and within budget;
  • Staged improvements to the user experience, leading to 20% increase in unique visitors over seasonal trends;
  • Content migration strategy, providing a complete website re-organisation;
  • Implementation of a new information architecture, contributing to reduced time-of-completion for high volume information transactions;
  • Creation of a system that dynamically builds a website taxonomy, providing many avenues to improve access to related information;
  • Inception and management of the corporate website knowledge management strategy, including incentive programs, roles and responsibilities;
  • Aligning website content schedules with the corporate marketing calendar and campaigns;
  • Institutionalisation of user experience toolkits across three business units including online transactions, leading to improving customer experience; and
  • Career and training programs for the corporate website development team.

i dezine

Role: e-Business Consultant
Location: Brisbane

i dezine is a website and print design firm providing e-commerce, intranet and extranet solutions.

Achievements

  • Implementation of several open source content management solutions for Brisbane and Sydney small businesses;
  • Improved user centric design of several websites, aligning business strategy with the online channel;
  • Design and specification of two complex e-commerce systems, including user stories and style guide; and
  • Consult on general web technology directions and their likely effect on businesses.

LearnQuick

May 2003 to August 2003
Role: User Experience Designer
Location: Brisbane

Online education is a growing concern for businesses and employees. LearnQuick provides an online presentation and formative testing tool. Interactive design tools allow educators to create engaging educational content.

Achievements

  • User experience design, navigation architecture, usability and accessibility;
  • Online learning interface style guide, for the delivery of engaging educational materials; and
  • Creation of learning management system administration and student interfaces.

Skelton Tomkinson

June 2002 to December 2002
Role: IT Consultant
Location: Brisbane

Skelton Tomkinson was founded by Brad Skelton in 1995 when he recognised a need for specialist shipping and customs brokerage services for the earthmoving and mining industry.

Achievements

  • Transformation and alignment of three business unit websites;
  • Implementation of a corporate document and information management systems;
  • Successful design, development and deployment of a business intranet;
  • Implementation of mobile information systems (WAP and Wireless HTML); and
  • Instigation and implementation of e-marketing initiatives, including customer driven e-newsletters.

SMS Management Technology

February 1999 to June 2002
Role: Information and Technology Consultant
Location: Sydney

SMS Management & Technology represents a unique blend of experience, capability and a proven ability to deliver on both small and large-scale e-business projects.

Achievements

  • Inception, specification, development and implementation of a medium sized content management system employed by ING Investment Management, ING Real Estate, macular degeneration and General Motors;
  • Inception and management of the SMS e-Business Center of excellence, an online 'community of practice';
  • Inception and management of the SMS e-Project office, an online resource for sharing project information with clients;
  • Delivery of five commercial-grade commercial and children's CDROM titles;
  • Successful source coordination of proprietary content management systems; and
  • Implementation of several content management tools to improve the user experience and assist in the design of website navigation.

University of Southern Queensland

Role: Multimedia Web Developer/Tutor
Location: Toowoomba

Achievements

  • Creation of a document processing system utilising 'grid computing' to process thousands of pages of content for cohesive online delivery;
  • Specification and development of interactive components to be included in online course materials for USQ;
  • Team leader of a small team of developers;
  • Introduced object oriented development practices within the development team;
  • Designed, developed and implemented numerous value added shockwave educational components to enhance the online learning experience.
  • Rewrite and design online unit course materials;
  • Participate in online tutorials and assignment marking; and
  • Tutored students, marked assignments and critiqued student work.
